Hey, how're you doing? You can call me Fortunato! Let me first introduce myself and tell you about my learning and teaching trajectory.
I'm a Brazilian teacher who lives in Belo Horizonte, a kind of big city not so distant from more famous cities like Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. I'm 33 years old and started studying English at 15. I used to HATE English then! I used to feel no connection with the real world and no reason to learn it whatsoever. But a simple connection with a Japanese girl on MSN (a messenger app that maybe you might have heard of) spiked my interest in learning the language. I then taught myself how to read, write, listen and speak English just so I could talk to her.
That was the first step! After English got my interest, I decided to follow it to a Bachelor's degree in English teaching. I started teaching poor students in 2016 as a volunteer and haven't stopped ever since!
I also have a Master's degree in Literature and Other Arts on my favorite subject to talk about: role-playing games! I love talking about these games and one of my goals here is to find students who also love them.

Language learning is most effective when it connects the student to their own reality. The difficulty many face learning English in school stems, in part, from an inability to relate to the subject matter. In our lessons, we will tailor the content to your proficiency level (from basic to advanced) and your personal interests!
Science shows that the Communicative Approach is the most effective method for the majority of students. While I generally use this as a starting point for new students, some prefer a more methodical approach—one traditionally focused on grammar. We can certainly adapt to that style; after all, the lessons are for you, and YOU decide!
Approaches we can follow in our class:
* Communicative approach: suitable for people who want to learn the language as a whole, from pronunciation to writing, from culture to specific vocabulary for business, travel, etc.
* Instrumental approach: suitable for people who want to learn to read texts in English but do not necessarily seek to speak the language, only to understand it textually.
* Speaking approach: suitable for people who can already read and understand some of the language but don't feel comfortable speaking it yet. This approach prioritizes listening and speaking skills rather than writing.
