Sobre Iris
I am currently pursuing my PhD at Belas Artes, Lisbon, Portugal focused on politics in music, a continuation of my master thesis "Seeking Out a Composition Method: negociating hierarchies of knowledge", completed at ESML, Lisbon, Portugal. My bachelor in composition with minors in improvisation and education was completed at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, Netherlands.
I studied violin from 2005 onward in Salzburg, Austria, piano from 2009 onward, and guitar from 2015 onward in Galway, Ireland.
I started teaching music theory and composition from 2022 onward, both in group settings as well as via private classes. It is a matter of great joy to me to support students toward their goals, sharing the joy music presents.

I focus on classical music, however always like to draw parallels to a strong variety of genres, believing different types of music to inform each other. It is my goal to use methods geared toward the individual needs of each student, hoping to guide them toward their goals. My pedagogcial approach adjusts to each student, prioritizing their current level of skill (from beginner to bachelor level university), as well as their interests and needs. I offer help for exam preparations, continuous guidance, as well as an entrance into the music world.
