Sobre Maria
I'm Maria — a native English and European Portuguese speaker, born and raised across South Africa and Portugal. I hold a TESOL Certificate (International Open Academy, 2018) and a Diploma in Business Management (Damelin & I.C.M, Johannesburg).
For seven years I worked as a real estate and relocation consultant with KW Portugal, helping hundreds of foreigners settle into life in mainland Portugal and Madeira — today I work in client support for an international company. That background is exactly why I teach the way I do: I know precisely what English (and Portuguese) a foreigner actually needs day-to-day, at work, and navigating everyday life, because I've spent years helping people live it.
I teach children and adults, always with patience, clarity, and a plan built around each individual student.

My lessons follow the Geniemix Method — a structured 5-stage roadmap that takes you from absolute zero (sounds, greetings, survival phrases) all the way to native-level confidence (spontaneous, culturally fluent, natural in any situation). Every 60-minute lesson follows the same shape: a quick review, correction of your most recurring mistakes, new material tied to something you'll actually need to say soon, guided practice, and a role-play of a real situation — a work meeting, a phone call, a negotiation, booking an appointment — never textbook dialogue.
Your plan is always personalised: every student has their own goals, pace, and study plan, with a structured review every 4–6 lessons to make sure progress is real. Recurring mistakes are tracked and worked on until they're genuinely gone.
I teach English and European Portuguese (not Brazilian), online, for all ages and levels — from complete beginners to those who already have the basics and want full confidence at work, in their studies, or in everyday life in Portugal, including Madeira. Your first lesson is free, so we can both see if it's a good fit.
