Perfeito! I took an intensive course in Portuguese with Maria for three months earlier this year in order to improve my speaking and writing skills. I found her to be the ideal teacher for me. She prepared the lessons carefully and adapted to my particular needs and interests, and she was able to give clear explanations on the spot regarding my many doubts and questions about the Portuguese language. She has the gift of being able to make her students feel at ease during the lessons, which makes it much easier to improve one’s confidence and fluency when speaking a foreign language. At the end of each lesson I felt that my Portuguese had really been put through its paces, but at the same time it was as if I had just had an interesting conversation with a friend. Her professional experience as an actor also enabled her to give me some specific advice and training with regards pronunciation in a way that, frankly, I doubt most Portuguese as a Foreign Language teachers would be able to do. This has changed the way I approach pronouncing Portuguese words and phrases in a very helpful and practical way. Although the lessons were carried out 100% in Portuguese, it was also a bonus for me that she speaks excellent English. I thoroughly recommend taking a course with Maria if you are looking to improve your Portuguese. Whatever your level or objectives, I am certain, based on my experience, that she will find the best way to help you.
