Sobre Marie Aimée
I am a scientific illustrator with a Master’s degree in Natural Sciences (Systematics, Evolution, Palaeontology) from the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle (MNHN) in Paris. My dissertation focused on the use of drawing as a tool for scientific investigation and outreach.
During my studies and subsequently during a fixed-term contract at the MNHN, I was involved in running several educational workshops designed to introduce scientific drawing to a variety of audiences: 10 years old students, Master’s and PhD students, and office workers. It was there that I discovered the art of teaching drawing and science, and the connection between them. I have been living in Lisbon since 2023, where I undertook a six-month course in scientific drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts (FBAUL). I have been working as a freelancer since then and collaborate with both scientific institutions such as the CNRS and the MNHN, as well as private individuals. My work involves illustrating scientific concepts by adapting my style to the specific requirements of the client : audience, medium and content. I therefore create illustrations for articles, books, display panels and digital visuals, covering a wide range of topics, from dinosaurs to agricultural practices in desert environments.

This course is open to anyone wishing to discover or improve their drawing practice. Adults and children from 8 years old.
I speak fluently English and French (currently learning Portuguese).
The goal of this course is to introduce you to drawing by focusing on the theme of natural sciences. The aim is to help you grasp through traditional exercices the basic concepts (shapes and volumes, values, light and shadow, color relationships, etc.) that form the foundation of a drawing, while developing your curiosity and eye for nature. Depending on your interests, we will study living or extinct animals, plants, planets, living organisms invisible to the naked eye, or geological features—or all of them. You will draw from observation and may also seek inspiration from texts, videos, photos, or other visual materials to substantiate your work. I will provide objects, books, and other resources from my personal collection that relate to the concepts covered: bones, plants, rocks, figurines, 3D prints, etc.
