Sobre Marysaba

I'm a life coach specializing in building healthy habits aligned with your values, as well as a conflict mediator.

My background is in wedding planning, where I developed organizational skills and sharpened my communication under high-stress situations.

I fell in love with Nonviolent Communication (NVC) about three years ago, and since then it's become not just an area of study and work, but a genuine passion and a way of being in life.

Nonviolent Communication starts from the idea that many of us learned to communicate through judgment, blame, punishment, and reward — because we grew up in a society where these mechanisms are deeply present. As a result, in both our personal and professional relationships, we often approach conflict trying to determine who's right and who's wrong, as if the conflict were something to "win."

In the end, we usually come out of these situations hurt, angry, or frustrated — and sometimes we even damage or end relationships that matter to us.

Nonviolent Communication offers a different approach: looking at the emotions and needs underneath the conflict, and learning to face difficult situations with empathy and awareness, instead of reacting automatically.

I'm certified in Life Coaching through UKCPD in the UK, a member of the Association for Coaching, and trained in conflict mediation with renowned mediator John Kinyon.

The course runs for 7 weeks, with one class per week or every two weeks, depending on your needs.

Each session lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes:

30 minutes of theory and practical tools
20 minutes of guided exercises
40 minutes of concrete application to your life and the situations you're going through
10 minutes of integration, questions, and feedback

The goal is for each class to go beyond theory, allowing you to work immediately on real situations from your own life.

**Before we begin – Free introductory session**

Before starting, we'll have a free 30-minute call.

I'll explain how the course works, the method we'll be using, and the goals of the program. Together, we'll figure out whether this course is the right fit for your needs and the situation you're currently in.

**Class 1 – Observing without interpreting**

When something happens that hurts or angers us, we often don't just tell ourselves what actually happened.

We add interpretations:

"He doesn't care about me."
"He does this on purpose."
"It's always the same thing with him."

And the more we replay this story in our heads, the more our anger, stress, and frustration grow.

In this first class, we'll learn to distinguish what actually happened from the story we build around that event.

You'll learn to observe a situation with more clarity, reducing the weight of automatic interpretations and creating the space you need to choose how you want to respond, instead of simply reacting.

**Class 2 – Recognizing emotions**

Behind a conflict, there's often much more than what we're actually arguing about.

"We're arguing because I'm always the one who does the dishes, and you never do."

But maybe what's really behind that argument is that you feel alone, frustrated, tired, or not considered.

In this class, you'll learn to recognize and name the emotions that come up during conflict, and to understand what they're trying to tell you.

We'll go beyond the handful of emotions we often learn to identify, and build a richer emotional vocabulary — one that lets you better understand what's happening inside you.

**Class 3 – From problems to needs**

"I need you to do the dishes more often."

But is doing the dishes really a need?

In this class, you'll learn to tell the difference between a need and a strategy.

You may discover that behind that request lie needs like collaboration, fairness, consideration, support, or respect.

This distinction matters, because once you recognize the need underneath the conflict, you open up more than one possible solution to the situation.

**Class 4 – Responsibility: stepping out of the blame game**

"You should..."
"It's your fault..."
"You deserve..."
"I expected that..."
"You always do this."
"You never do anything."

These phrases can quickly turn a conversation into a confrontation.

In this class, we'll explore four communication patterns that fuel judgment, blame, demand, and the transfer of responsibility — and you'll learn to recognize them in your own way of communicating.

We'll work on your ability to take responsibility for your own emotions, needs, choices, and actions — without also taking on responsibility for what belongs to the other person.

**Class 5 – Setting boundaries without starting a war**

Being assertive doesn't mean always saying yes.

But it doesn't mean imposing your will on others, either.

A healthy boundary lets you say:

"This doesn't work for me."

without needing to attack the other person, justify yourself endlessly, or feel guilty.

In this class, we'll work on recognizing your own boundaries, communicating them clearly, and handling the other person's reaction.

You'll also learn to tell the difference between a boundary and a threat, or an attempt to control the other person's behavior.

**Class 6 – Turning conflict into a request**

Now that you've learned to recognize observations, emotions, needs, responsibilities, and boundaries, we'll bring all these pieces together.

You'll learn to turn what you feel and need into concrete, clear, realistic requests — without turning them into orders or demands.

We'll also work on:

asking for what you need;
saying no without attacking;
hearing a no without automatically taking it as rejection;
looking for solutions that take both people's needs into account.

The goal isn't to win the conflict, but to find a way of communicating that allows both people to be heard.

**Class 7 – One-on-one coaching and application session**

You've reached the end of the course. Now it's time to bring everything you've learned into a real situation in your life.

In this individual session, we'll use tools from Nonviolent Communication, conflict mediation, coaching, and body awareness to work through a conflict or relational situation you'd like to approach differently.

We'll explore:

what actually happened;
what emotions come up in you;
what needs lie beneath those emotions;
what your boundaries and responsibilities are;
what the other person might be experiencing;
what kind of communication or request you'd like to bring into that situation.

Through practical exercises, coaching questions, and mindfulness and body-awareness techniques, we'll build together a more conscious and assertive way of handling that situation.

**And the result?**

The goal isn't to walk away from a conflict simply asking yourself:

"How do I get the other person to see that I'm right?"

But to learn to ask instead:

"What's actually happening? What am I feeling? What do I need? What's my boundary? And how can I communicate all of this without being untrue to myself, and without attacking the other person?"

This is the heart of assertive communication and conscious conflict management.
